3 cuts mobile broadband roaming charges for World Cup
3 Mobile customers who will be visiting South Africa to watch the FIFA world cup games need not pay so much for international roaming.
Mobile operator, 3UK has reduced its international roaming charges by up to 50% for its customers when they roam in South Africa these two months.
Data roaming charges see the maximum cut of 50% and will be just £1.25 for downloading each MB of data.
Additionally, the data usage will be billed only on the basis of per MB to help the mobile broadband customers to make further savings.
3 has also cut the roaming charges for the mobile calls. A voice call from South Africa to UK will cost £1.40 per minute, reduced by 30%. Receiving a call will cost 99 pence per minute.
Marc Allera, Sales and Marketing Director at 3 said that the new data roaming prices announced by 3 are much cheaper when compared to ‘some operator’s data roaming prices which are still eye-wateringly high.’

Increased adoption to smartphones worldwide also indicates that users are more likely to access (3G) mobile broadband, rather than voice service, even when they are traveling abroad where data roaming charges are usually high.
