3 Mobile to launch new broadband service

UK mobile broadband provider 3 (Three) will launch a new wireless (wi-fi) broadband service by this year end, it was reported. The mobile operator has released the details of the new wireless modem which will allow multiple devices to connect to mobile internet. MiFi, the new wirless internet service that uses a compact sized wireless modem can be accessed via the provider’s mobile broadband network.

Wireless modem - ThreeThe new modem is completley wireless, meaning PCs, laptops can be connected to this modem without the need of USB slot, wires or cables. Mobile broadband via dongles usually need a USB connection.

Marc Allera, Sales and Marketing Director at Three (3) mobile UK says:

“There are millions of Wi-Fi devices out there, but they can only be used in fixed locations. Consumer demand for easy and affordable internet access on the go is growing fast and we’re responding to that by announcing the UK’s first wireless modem.

Using Mobile Wi-Fi from 3, consumers can connect to the internet wherever they have a 3 signal, whether at home or on the move. They can download a track onto their iPod touch, or tweet their latest updates to their mates, or both. Either way it’s simple to set-up, without the need for wires.”
