The House of Lords allowed to use Apple iPad

The House of Lords has allowed the use of internet tablets such as Apple iPad and smartphones in chamber on Thursday.

The one year trial of handheld electronic devices comes after the recommendation of the Lords Administration and Works Committee (AWC).

New rules will set out which electronic devices are allowed and which are banned in the chamber, the AWC report said.

For instance, the ban on the use of devices which have clicking keys such as laptops and netbooks in the Lords will continue.

When it comes to using internet, Lord members cannot use any device to browse the net or send or receive emails within the chamber, new rulings say.
