Sky Digital TV Package with Broadband and Talk
British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB) offers multiple services like digital TV, broadband and phone services to its customers.
If you want to take Sky broadband or Sky Talk phone plans, you should be a Sky Digital TV customer, as Sky does not offer its broadband and phone services to non-Sky digital TV customers.
Sky offers a light broadband package, Sky Base (2Mb speed and 2GB usage/month) for FREE to its customers who live within its LLU network coverage.
Sky’s free broadband is quite a nice option to save money, especially, if you are a light broadband user. There is also 20Mb superfast broadband with unlimited downloads for heavy users.
Sky Talk is the phone service which lets you to take home phone with Sky line rental for just £10 a month. Sky Talk offers two call plans that include free evening and weekend calls, while you have the option to upgrade them to unlimited phone calls plus calls to 10 international locations by paying an extra £5 a month.
Sky Digital TV Packages
With a coverage of over 99% in the UK, Sky Digital offers 250+ TV channels, standard channels packs, HD channels on a pay monthly susbscription with minimum cost starting from £17.50 a month on a 12 month contract.
After the signup, you will soon get a mini satellite dish and Sky box to watch the Sky programmes.
Sky TV offers six standard TV packs with one pack of your choice available with your minimum susbcription. You may add all the six standard packs for just an extra £5 per month. Each TV pack comes with some 10 to 15 channels just suitable for your specific needs like kids, music, news, Style & culture etc.
Sky HD Channels
With Standard TV packs, Sky also offers the HD version of similar channels (some 30+ channels)which you watch with an extra monthly subscription fee of £9.75.
You would also need a Sky +HD box to watch HD channels on Sky Digital. Sky +HD Box would cost £79 inlcluding setup.
Just as with standard pack, you would subscribe to each individual HD pack. To get the best out of Sky HD, make sure that you have a HD enabled Plasma or LCD TV.
Sky Digital Premium Channels
If you want to watch Sky Sports or Sky Movies packs, that would indeed cost extra (minimum £25.50 per month). Only Sky HD TV customers can get Sky Sports channels, because they are available in high definition format. You can also susbcribe to ESPN for £9 a month, with your Sports pack.
You can choose any one standard pack with Sky Sports and Sky Movies for £25.50 per month or all six standard packs with all Sky Sports and Sky Movies packs for 47.50 per month.
Sky Player On-Demand Videos
Sky Player is a online media player that allows you to access Sky’s vast collection of movies, sports events, popular TV programmes using your broadband internet connection.
If you take Sky Digital (Sky +HD box or Sky +), you can use Sky Player online TV service without any additional cost, (though, it is a limited offer from Sky.)
Sky Broadband
First, you will have to be a Sky Digital TV susbcriber before buying a Sky Broadband package. If you are a new Sky customer, you will need to take broadband and TV package together.
Sky broadband bundles offer 2GB, 40GB and unlimited download limits, while download speeds 2MB, 10MB and 20MB are available.
By taking a basic Sky Talk phone plan with broadband, you can reduce £5 a month on your broadband cost. Sky Unlimited call plan is available for an extra £5 a month. Benefit: you can make calls to 10 international locations.
You can claim free broadband with your digital TV pack if you live in a LLU network coverage area.
