norfolk county councilNorfolk County Council has recently organised a workshop to find solution for improving the broadband infrastructure in the region by using different, advanced communication technologies to meet the future needs of the residents and businessnes of Norfolk. The meeting also discussed on how to get funds to accomplish this task.

Representatives from local organisations and some major telecom service giants including  T-Mobile, BT, Babcock, Digital Inclusion, Agency,  Norfolk County Council’s ICT department, East of England Brussels Office, East of England Development and Shaping Norfolk’s Future, took part in the discussion on topics such as how the alterntive broadband technologies like mobile and satellite can be best used to increae the coverage as well as how to improve the fixed line broadband speeds in the areas which receive slow broadband.

Edp24 quotes Ann Steward, the cabinet member for economic development at the Council as saying:

“I think we all gained a great deal of benefit from this event and now feel much better informed about what the local issues are and the possible solutions.”

The information and feedback from the participants of the workshop will help the campaign Shaping Norfolk’s Future to bring quality broadband for the users in the region.   

Ann steward has  further said:

“The next step is to take all the information we now have following the workshop and determine how the county council needs to respond and to work with partners to achieve the best outcome for our county.”
