BT broadband to offer Sky Sports for £6.99 a month

BT broadband customers can sign up for Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports 2 channels which will be offered through its IPTV service, BT Vision from 1st August, the ISP has announced.

BT offers these premium channels to its susbcribers after it has signed a deal with the UK’s popular digital TV broadcaster, BSkyB.

The existing customers of BT’s cheapest bundle offer that includes TV, Broadband and Calls for £17.99 a month on 24 month contract can add these two channels and get both the channels for only £11.99 a month along with Vision Sport and ESPN. There is also option to buy a single channel for £6.99 a month.

For new customers, this triple play package would cost £17.99 a month, £11.54 line rental and one-off fee of £60 for the Vision+ box. This deal offers 20Mbps broadband, 40GB monthly download allowance, Freeview TV and unlimited UK weekend calls.

BT’s Chief, Gavin Patterson believes that entry prices as low as £6.99 for Sky Sports would pull those customers ‘ who’d love to enjoy these channels, but thought they were too expensive.’

Meanwhile, BT’s competitor, BSkyB said it would hike the prices of its premium sports channels as it plans to offer more Premier League matches via its channels.

BT broadband customers can already pre-order for these best sports channels, however they will need to pay the fee only after 1st August, BT said.

The provider also offers two more top-end triple-play bundles for the customers who are looking for more broadband or unlimited TV.

The ISP has also increased the monthly download limit for its Option 2 broadband package from 10GB to 40GB.
