BT Wholesale 24Mb broadband subscriptions reach 1m

BT’s ADSL 2+ enabled exchanges will bring 24Mbps speeds to 20 million UK homes and business by spring 2011, it was reported.

The Wholesale broadband connect (WBC) rollout which the ISP launched to offer faster speeds using its 21st Century Network (21CN) is expected to reach 16 million UK homes and businesses by this year end.

Meanwhile, BT’s premium service division has now received 1 million subscriptions, driven by an unprecedented demand for the product, according to Sian Baldwin, BT Wholesale’s Director of broadband and content services.

The 21CN network which has capacity to provide 24Mbps speeds will help the customers to use applications that need faster speeds such as television, gaming and multiple VoIP services, she added.
