Superfast broadband should extend coverage to boost uptake
More than half of UK consumers may consider superfast broadband service, if the providers improve their coverage, a recent study suggests.

Broadband providers to follow new voluntary code of practice
The Broadband Stakeholder Group will implement new Voluntary Code of Practice for broadband UK providers on traffic management by mid-2011.
Under the new code of practice, ISPs will need to provide all the information that their customers would like to know, mainly, how the traffic management affects speeds and their browsing experience. more »
Norfolk County to bid for BDUK funding to get superfast broadband
The Norfolk County Council (NCC) is on its way to get funding from the national Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) scheme to roll out superfast broadband across the county.

Government releases £50m to boost rural broadband
The UK government has released £50m fund to improve broadband services in rural and remote areas across the UK.
The fund will be used to extend the rural pilot projects which the government’s Broadband Delivery UK (BDUK) scheme launched in Cumbria, North Yorkshire Highlands and Islands (Scotland), the Golden Valley and Herefordshire last year, to other rural areas. more »
Average UK broadband speeds hit 6.2Mbps, Ofcom reports
UK broadband consumers received average speeds of around 6.2Mbps at the end of 2010, the latest broadband speed survey from Ofcom has revealed.
Average broadband speeds continue to improve from 5.2Mbit/s in May 2010 and 4.1Mbps in April 2009, the report shows. more »

The Welsh Assembly Government has formally launched the procurement process, aiming to bring next-generation broadband to all homes and businesses in Wales in the next ten years.
The advertisement published on the Official Journal of the European Union is seeking the best value contract for the fibre rollouts that promise 30Mbps broadband speeds to all businesses in next five years and all homes by 2020. more »
