Demon internet customers personal details circulated by human error

Demon Internet, a business ISP has admitted that an Excel spreadsheet containing the personal details of its customers was sent to its own customers due to ‘human error’

The news came out when some of the Demon customers received emails with attachment having the personal information of over 3,600 customers who have recently signed up for the paperless billing sevice of the provider. It was known that this information included the name, email address, telephone numbers, business information of the customers etc.

The incident was ‘a human error’ according to Thus which owns Demon Internet. Demon offers broadband services to home users as well as businesses in UK.

Thus, in a statement, said that the Excel spreadsheet did not contain sensitive information like financial or payment details.

“On discovery, Demon took immediate steps to secure the information and security of customers affected, by changing all affected customer usernames and passwords,”

“We can confirm categorically that no customer accounts were accessed inappropriately during this time,”

The ISP had also assured that it would be more cautious in future and would see that this kind of thing would not ever  happen.
