Demon to launch new business broadband packages

Business ISP, Demon is to launch new, unlimited broadband packages, designed to deliver the best service for home users and businesses without any fair usage restriction.

The new broadband packages for the businesses, which are to be rolled out in July, will deliver guaranteed speeds from 1Mbps with monthly prices ranging between £30 and £112.

Demon customers, who live in the LLU network areas, can receive broadband speeds of up to 20Mbps and 1Mbps upload speed while the rest who are served by the local BT exchanges, can get up to 8Mbps speeds.

Demon, previously owned by THUS, was later acquired by the Cable & Wireless in May, 2008. Noted for providing quality broadband internet services for UK businesses, Demon has unbundled many exchanges recently to increase its LLU penetration to cover nearly 60% of UK businesses across the UK.

Matt Cantwell, the Head of Demon broadband ISP said: “We want to remind everyone that Demon Broadband is the best at providing business internet services. In addition, our heritage in the ISP market and in-house technical and business expertise means we can consult our customers on the best broadband package to suit their needs,”

Meanwhile, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) announced that it would examine the issue of advertising ‘unlilmited’ broadband packages by many UK providers, while still restricting the usage with their fair usage policies.

The issue demands a broader policy and co-ordinated action from regulators, ISPs and consumer groups, according to Lynsay Taffe, ASA’s communications and policy manager.
