Ofcom allows Karoo to offer broadband bundles in Hull
Karoo broadband (KCOM) can now offer broadband & phone bundles and other services to the residents and businesses in Hull area as the company gets the approval from the Communications regulator, Ofcom today.
KCom has already revealed the prices of bundles on its website, however, Ofcom has imposed an important condition on the bundle pricing by the ISP so that its ‘prices will not discourage other communications providers from offering their services to consumers in Hull, should they wish to do so’.
Ofcom believes that the new measures will help the local residents to get broadband and phone services at affordable prices in an area which lacks market competition. .

The cost of broadband in Hull and surrounding areas is significantly higher comparing to other places in the UK and this puts the local businesses at competitive disadvantage, according to Fibrestream.
Currently, Karoo of KCOM group is the only fixed broadband service provider in Hull region and since last year, there is a growing demand that the regulator should pave a way for opening up market for all competitors.
Fibrestream, the fibre-optic specialist and NextGenUs, launched the 100Mbps FTTH (fibre to the home) broadband project in the Great Thornton Street Estate in Hull last year.
