Average UK mobile broadband speeds just over 1.5Mbps
UK broadband regulator Ofcom announced the results of its speed survey it conducted on all major mobile broadband operators in the UK.
O2 was found to be the best service offering top average speeds of nearly 3Mbps, 0.8Mbps upload speeds and the lowest latency levels, the study has revealed.
On average, users in the UK receive download speeds of around 2Mbps and upload speeds of around 0.6Mbps.
Epitro conducted more than 4.2 million tests on dongles and datacards used by mobile broadband customers during the survey. Smartphone users data was not included in the survey, Ofcom said.
The study also revealed that 17% of UK population access mobile broadband while nearly half of them (7%) use it as their only means of accessing internet services.
Followed by O2, Vodafone and Three offered the best speeds to their customers. Orange mobile broadband customers, on average, received the slowest download speeds of just over 1Mbps.
