Limited mobile broadband coverage affects rural businesses

Mobile phone coverage still remains a issue in many rural areas across the UK.

Moreover, homes and businesses in some remote and rural areas often depend on mobile broadband coverage to access internet due to lack of fixed broadband service.

Cornwall and Devon are among the areas that receive limited mobile coverage, the BBC News reports.

Poor mobile network coverage has been affecting the local businesses which use mobile broadband for their online transactions, Cornwall Business Council and the Country Land and Business Association (CLBA) said.

UK broadband regulator Ofcom will soon survey Devon to assess the mobile phone coverage in the area and submit a report later.

The watchdog conducted a nation-wide survey last year to find out 25% of the UK do not have 3G mobile broadband coverage.
