O2 is all set to launch its fixed line service by this March, it was reported.
Initially, the phone service will be available only to the existing O2 broadband customers, the mobile operator and broadband provider said.
The customers who take all the three services – phone, broadband and mobile services from O2, will pay just £17 a month, including the line rental.
O2’s move to enter home phone market was driven by the fact that many O2 customers prefer to take multple services from the same provider, according to Sally Cowdry, O2’s marketing director in the UK. Another fact being the failure of the existing fixed line providers to offer cheaper packages and good customer service, she added.
“Our customers are, for the large part, unhappy with their fixed-line providers,” she was quoted as saying by the Timesonline.
O2 has over 0.527m broadband customers and is also the fourth largest mobile operator in UK with more than 21 million mobile customers.
Home phone is currently offered by providers like BT, TalkTalk, BSkyB and Virgin Media.
