O2 is to rollout home phone service soon

O2 is planning to launch its home phone service for its existing customers by the end of this month, it was reported. According to the O2 staff who spoke to ISPreview.co.uk, the landline service will be activated ‘very soon’ for the customers who have registered on its website.

In January, the ISP announced its plans to tap UK home phone market and that it would launch the service in March, only for its existing O2 customers.

Other service providers – BT, Talk Talk, BSkyB and Virgin Media already offer broadband and phone bundles to their customers. Providing home phone with broadband allows the ISPs to offer competitively priced deals to their customers, it has been found.

Being both fixed line and mobile broadband provider O2 plans to offer one of the cheapest bundle offer to its customers. With line rental included, the package will include all the three services – broadband, phone and mobile broadband – for just £17 a month.

O2 is quite popular for its reliable speeds and good customer service. Its average speeds have consistently topped many surveys. Last month, the provider was named the best fixed and mobile broadband ISP, winning the customer satisfaction poll conducted by J.D. Power and Associates.

Meanwhile, BE broadband of O2 Telefonica group, has also revealed its plans to launch fixed line phone service by the end of this year, due to ‘a lot of demand from its members. Like O2, BE will also ‘roll out a trial to some of its customers’ before launching the service in full scale, according to Tom Williams, head of Be Broadband.
