Palm Pre Smart Phone
The Apple iphone’s main competitor, Palm Pre has signed a deal with UK mobile operator, O2 that allows the latter to sell Palm Pre smartphones in the UK, according to a report.
Palm Pre smartphones are hugely popular for their user-friendly interface and web-friendly operating system. The deal will allow O2 to sell Palm Pre handsets not only in the UK, but also in Ireland and Germany. It should be noted that Palm Pre announced this deal in January this year while the mobile phone manufacturer has already started to sell its handsets on the Sprint Network in the US.
O2 says that Palm Pre handsets would hit the UK market during the winter holidays. However, it is yet to be known how much a customer would have to pay to buy this great phone.
When Palm Pre was introduced in the US, the handsets cost around £129 and the customers would have to sign a contract of two years when they purchase the handsets, it is reported. There are already more than 300,000 Palm Pre phones sold in the US market while many think that the phone may cost a bit more when it comes to the UK for sale in the winter holidays.
Palm smart phones come with some nice features like slide-out Qwerty keyboard, rounded design and a touch screen. The screen has innovative features like the motion sensitive area which can read your gestures made below the screen. Palm has designed its handsets with web users in mind as the users can organise information and the contacts which they receive through their handsets.
Palm is certainly becoming a potential competitor to Apple which has already rolled out its new iPhone 3GS in June to face the competition. Apple iPhone 3GS features a faster chip and other new features. While, HTC Hero, another competitor to broadband enabled handsets has launched smartphones which come with Android operating system powered by Google.
I look forward to know the price of Palm smart phones when they hit the UK market. I have not seen Palm phones, it seems they must be as good as Apple iPhones which already faces fierce competition from other entrants.
