O2 Mobile launch new laptops to go online without a dongle

Mobile broadband provider O2 has launched two laptops that will allow the users to access mobile internet without plugging an external, USB modem stick.

Generally, mobile broadband users need to plug a dongle into a USB port for mobile broadband connectivity. However, O2 customers, with the new laptops, will not have the hassle to load up a mobile broadband dongle but a single click is all needed to surf the net, says Felix Geyr, Head of Home and Broadband at O2.

The new laptops – Asus UL30A laptop or Samsung N150 which come with built-in modem, are now available with a one-off fee of £29.99 and £79.99 respectively.

The mobile broadband deal that includes Samsung N150 laptop (1GB RAM, 250GB hard drive and Windows 7 Starter pre-installed) comes with 3GB monthly data usage, 300 texts and wi-Fi access of up to 500MB data for a monthly price of £25 on a 24 month contract.

Asus UL30A laptop (3GB RAM, 320GB hard drive and Windows 7 Premium) is bundled with a monthly plan that will offer 3GB monthly data usage, 300 texts and wi-Fi access of up to 750MB data for a monthly price of £30 on a 24 month contract.

O2′s competitor, Three Mobile (3) launched the first ever wireless modem for mobile broadband users in UK. Mobile wi-fi modem (or just MI-FI)which is now available as PAYG or on a pay monthly deal from 3, enables its customers to connect multiple devices and receive broadband on the go, without the need of USB or cables.
