O2 tops the latest mobile broadband speed survey
Mobile broadband provider O2 is found to be offering the fastest mobile data connection speeds among five UK operators, according to the survey conducted by Siroda which has tested 20 major cities, across 150 UK locations for the two month period.
Some of the cities where the mobile broadband Internet services were tested throughout the day included London, Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle and Sheffield.
For instance, in London, O2 provided the fasted mobile data speeds that downloaded an average web page at 1.7 seconds. O2 mobile broadband speeds were also the fastest when it came to downloading a music file. The provider has beaten other providers in 12 out of 20 cities with its fastest music download speeds, the study also revealed.
O2 says the results were independently verified and especially in London, where the service provider had spent £30m on 40 new sites last year and its customers are now seeing the benefits, according to Derek McManus, Chief Technology Officer, O2.
“Outside London, where network quality is shown to be strong, we continue to scale our investment and have committed to deliver a further 1500 new sites by the end of this year, building ahead of the demand for data services.” he added.
