High-speed broadband for North Yorkshire rural communities

With fibre based broadband yet to reach many cities in the UK, a rural broadband project initiated by the local communities will enable the residents in two remote villages in North Yorkshire to get access to faster broadband service.

Newton-on-Rawcliffe and Stape, the near-by villages of Pickering, will not receive super-fast speeds, though, however, the fibre networks built by the local provider, NYnet promise up to 10Mbps speed to more than 140 local residents and businesses in this region.

Two local organisations, NextGenUs UK CIC and Beeline Broadband have also joined the rollout which will be extended to other rural villages in North Yorkshire, according to David Cullen, Chief Executive of NYnet.

NextGenUs’ chief executive, Guy Jarvis hopes that projects such as these backed by local communities can take broadband service to many rural and remote areas which do not have any or quality broadband infrastructure.

One Response to High-speed broadband for North Yorkshire rural communities

Good news. It’s awful not being able to get a decent speed of broadband. I remember when I first when to compare broadband packages, I’d waited so there were quite a few out there, but my area had no coverage. It does now, but those months when it didn’t were like slow torture. It’s shocking that there are places who still can’t get decent broadband.
