Users of IP Vision owned Fetch TV Freeview Box can watch Sky TV channels from early next year. IP Vision’s agreement with BSkyB will allow Sky Player to offer various Sky channels like Sky Movies and Sky Sports on the Fetch TV SmartBox which receives the contents through broadband internet.
New service will be free for the existing Sky TV customers while new customers can sign up for the service by paying subscription directly to Sky.
Fetch TV SmartBox can be connected to any broadband connection to access the contents provided by the broadcasters like BBC iPlayer. The device also allows viewers to record, pause and rewind the live TV programmes.
Griff Parry, Director of On Demand, BSkyB, said:
“Sky is committed to offering customers more ways to access our content and our agreement with IP Vision represents an important step in that process. Offering Sky Player through the Fetch TV box gives UK consumers yet another way to experience Sky content, complementing the services already available on satellite, PC, games consoles and mobile”
