Sky unveils new high-speed broadband packages

Broadband and Digital TV service provider BSkyB will offer a new range of high-speed broadband packages from today. The ISP has trimmed down its product line to offer just two broadband options, while slashing the monthly price of its unlimited broadband package from £10 to £7.50.

As announced earlier, the 10Mbps Sky Everyday deal will no longer be available. Instead, there is new, Everyday Lite package which comes with improved download speeds of 20Mbps and 2GB monthly download limit. This is FREE broadband service for the existing and new Sky TV customers who have also taken Sky Talk. Without Sky Talk, the deal would cost £5 per month.

Sky Unlimited broadband, which the ISP claims of having no fair usage restrictions, will offer download speeds of 20Mbps and unlimited downloads and will cost just £7.50 when taken with Sky Talk. Without Sky Talk, however, the package would cost £12.50.

Recent quarterly results showed that the broadband customer base of BSkyB has grown to reach 2.5 million mark by the end of Q1 2010 while more than 1.9 million Sky customers have signed up for all the three services i.e., TV, broadband and calls.

The ISP’s popular Sky +HD box free offer also seemed to boost the performance and growth with more than 428,000 new susbcribers have joined its digital TV service during the last 12 months.
