
UK broadband suppliers, the Carphone Warehouse group has added 124,000 new customers during the six month period ended 30 September 2009, taking its total broadband base to 4.1 million (without Tiscali numbers).
The mobile and broadband service provider comprising AOL and TalkTalk has reported 88 % jump in its half-yearly profits to hit £75 million.
TalkTalk broadband revenues was up by 15 % to reach £631million while the company’s retail business, Best Buy also performed well during the half-year period.
Carphone will also go with its plans to demerge TalkTalk, the broadband ISP and the main competitor to BT and the new chief executive for the demerged TalkTalk will be announced next year, according to Carphone Warehouse Group’s CEO, Charles Dunstone.
Apart from the stronger performance by TalkTalk, the company’s iPhones’ selling division reported impresssive 2 % growth in mobile connections. Roger Taylor, finance director says the new Microsoft’s Windows 7 OS could boost the sales of laptops, smartphones and the affordable PAYG touchscreen phones during the Christmas festive season.
