Vodafone to offer PC Backup services to customers

Mobile broadband ISP Vodafone’s consumer and business customers can securely backup any files in a remote location using the its new Vodafone PC Backup service, it was reported.

Vodafone has revealed its plans to launch this Mozy-based online backup service in many European nations including UK and the new service will be available to both its fixed and mobile broadband users. Mozy technology encrypts the users’ data before they are saved in Decho datacentres, it was stated.

Initial plans include 10GB of storage for Vodafone Business customers and unlimited storage for residential customers.

New Vodafone PC backup service will allow its customers access, view and share the backup content using a web browser on multiple devices like PC, netbook and laptop.

Vodafone customers can bundle the new service with Vodafone mobile services (including mobile dongle) although the pricing is yet to be announced by the ISP.

Huw Medcraft, Director of Mobile Broadband at Vodafone, said:

“Vodafone PC Backup will enable them to centrally store this content, providing users with the added reassurance that as a Vodafone customer their files – be they critical work documents for businesses or family photographs – will be there when they need it,”
