The Linksys equipment described in older reviews has been replaced for new orders. Current packages include an eero 7 or eero Pro 7 Wi-Fi 7 router, eero Secure and engineer-assisted Wi-Fi setup with a new fibre installation.

eero Secure is included without an extra subscription charge, providing threat protection, content filtering, ad blocking, parental controls and device management. Gigaclear reserves the right to charge later, so check the order summary.
Management requires the eero app, an eero account and a mobile number. The app keeps everyday controls straightforward but has fewer manual settings than many enthusiast routers. Older Wi-Fi devices remain compatible without gaining Wi-Fi 7 features.

Gigaclear’s WiFi Guarantee targets at least 30Mbps in every main room with the correct setup. Conservatories, basements, outbuildings, external garages and some unusual buildings are excluded. After support, an unresolved failure reported within 40 days can trigger Smart WiFi cancellation and one month’s broadband credit.
For a new installation, the engineer sets up the router and included mesh units. Homes with an active connection normally receive self-install equipment.
Realistic speed and Wi-Fi expectations
Gigaclear’s symmetrical packages are particularly useful when several people upload files, join video calls or back up data at the same time. Many national FTTP providers offer a comparable average download speed but a much lower average upload speed.
Speed reaching the router
The published average is measured on a wired connection at peak time. Current minimum download speeds are 240Mbps, 480Mbps and 700Mbps for the three packages. The personalised order information remains the figure that applies to an individual line.
Speed reaching each device
Walls, distance, interference, router placement and the device’s own Wi-Fi hardware reduce wireless performance. Test with Ethernet before assuming that a lower result is a fault with the full fibre connection.
Explorer 300 already provides enough capacity for several UHD streams, calls and ordinary downloads. Odyssey 600 reduces waiting time for larger transfers and gives a busy household more shared capacity. Galileo 900 is most useful when many devices are active or large uploads and downloads happen frequently; routine streaming alone does not require it.

Explorer 300 is enough for many households. Odyssey 600 adds capacity for a busy home, while Galileo 900 benefits frequent large transfers and heavy concurrent use.

Installation and switching
New full fibre installation
A new connection normally has two stages: external preparation, followed by fitting the connection boxes, activating the service and setting up the eero. An adult aged 18 or over must attend the indoor visit.
Bookings are available from 14 to 90 days after ordering, with appointments commonly available within three weeks. A premises with a compatible connection can usually use self-installation within seven days.
Standard work is included. Unusual access or surface work can require a survey and written quotation.
Switching to Gigaclear
One Touch Switch lets Gigaclear coordinate most residential moves and notify the old provider after activation. Do not cancel separately unless the order instructions require it.
The In-Contract Offer does not pay an early termination charge. Customers keep paying the old provider while Gigaclear removes its broadband rental for the accepted period; additional Gigaclear services remain chargeable.
Home phone, entertainment and network options
Digital Home Phone
Home Phone is optional and uses a rolling monthly agreement. The current £6-a-month service includes evening and weekend calls to UK landlines. The £11-a-month service includes UK landline and mobile calls. Number transfers are available where the existing details permit.
Television and mobile
Gigaclear does not provide an integrated pay-TV or mobile bundle. Streaming platforms work over the broadband connection, but customers arrange each subscription separately. Compare Sky broadband or Virgin Media if one bill for broadband and television is important.
IP address
The standard service uses an address that Gigaclear may change. A static IP can be arranged for an additional charge. Customers using remote access, inbound servers or specialist security equipment should confirm the current option before ordering.
The digital phone needs a working broadband connection and mains power. Calls, including 999 and 112, will not work during a broadband or power failure without suitable backup. Gigaclear can provide a battery unit in relevant circumstances, but a corded telephone is also required because the battery does not power a cordless handset.

Digital phone regulatory history
Ofcom fined Gigaclear £122,500 in July 2025 after inaccurate caller-location information was supplied during 948 VoIP emergency calls made between January 2022 and March 2024. Gigaclear corrected and tested the relevant systems. The failure is historical, but customers relying on Home Phone should still keep their registered address accurate and retain another way to call emergency services during an outage.

Gigaclear’s symmetrical speeds, Wi-Fi 7 equipment and engineer setup make it a capable rural full fibre service. Explorer 300 covers many homes, Odyssey 600 adds capacity for a busy household, and Galileo 900 is most useful for heavy transfers and many simultaneous users.
The main concern is value after the discount: existing-customer list prices are much higher, and the terms permit changes with notice. Limited availability, no combined television service and possible non-standard installation work also need checking.
