The drawbacks? Coverage is still very limited. If Gigaclear hasn’t built in your village, you can’t get it. And in July 2025, Ofcom fined the company for failing to send accurate location data on emergency VoIP calls between 2022 and 2024. Gigaclear says the issue has now been fixed, but it’s worth knowing about if you plan to use its digital phone service.

Gigaclear keeps its broadband range simple, with four symmetric full fibre plans.

Gigaclear doesn’t bundle TV or mobile, so if you want those you’ll need to arrange them separately. You can add a VoIP phone line for £5 a month, which works through the router.

Router

The router included is a Linksys Wi-Fi 6 model. On the 300Mb, 400Mb and 469Mb plans you get a dual-band router. On the 900Mb Hyperfast package, you get an upgraded tri-band Wi-Fi 6 router that handles multiple devices more efficiently.

For the areas it covers, Gigaclear is one of the best options available.

Gigaclear is a strong option if it’s available where you live. It’s one of the few providers bringing symmetric full fibre into villages and rural towns, giving speeds up to 900Mb for both download and upload. Add in a Wi-Fi 6 router and optional mesh, and it’s a capable setup for most homes.

It’s not for everyone. Coverage is limited, there are no TV or mobile bundles, and the regulatory fine in 2025 is a reminder that smaller providers can have issues.

But if you want fast, symmetric broadband in a rural area, Gigaclear delivers where many of the big names don’t. It’s worth checking your postcode to see if you’re covered.
