Virgin Media changes its package combinations and introductory offers regularly. Enter your postcode before comparing deals because available broadband speeds, network type and installation options depend on the premises.

The monthly price is only one part of the comparison. Check the price during the minimum term, any scheduled annual increases, the out-of-contract price and whether the package contains the premium channels you intend to watch.

Virgin Media TV packages compared

Virgin Media currently offers Flex and five main fixed-term TV packages. All new orders use a Stream box, but the included channels, subscriptions and contract arrangements differ.

This table shows the main distinction between the packages rather than a permanent channel list. Channel availability can change, and regional services are not identical throughout the UK.

The postcode checker can also display Entertainment Volt, Cinema Volt, Sport Volt or Sport + Cinema Volt. These versions add an eligible O2 SIM and Volt benefits to the corresponding TV package; they do not introduce another level of television content.

Flex compared with fixed-term TV packages

Flex is the more flexible route into Virgin Media TV. The TV element comes with a 30-day rolling agreement, so you can add paid subscriptions for a particular series or sporting event and remove them later. You still need Virgin Media broadband, which normally comes with its own longer minimum term.

The named TV packages come with a 24-month minimum term. They include more channels, bundle selected premium content into the monthly price and place the broadband and fixed TV service on one Virgin Media contract.

There is also a billing detail worth noting. Broadband and Flex remain separate contracts, although Virgin Media places both charges on one monthly bill. With Max Volt, the Virgin Media services appear on one bill, while the O2 SIM has a separate mobile contract and O2 bill.

Flex is ideal if you mainly use streaming services and want a compact selection of live channels. A fixed package is better if you watch Sky Sports or Sky Cinema throughout the year and prefer those services to form part of the main TV agreement.

Virgin Media Flex

Flex includes more than 150 essential and free-to-air channels through a Stream box. You can watch live television, use catch-up services and open popular streaming apps from the same interface.

Paid subscriptions are optional. You can add services such as Netflix, Disney+, Sky Sports, Sky Cinema and selected specialist channel packs, subject to the choices available on your account. These subscriptions normally continue until you give the required notice, so removing an app from the home screen does not cancel its charge.

Netflix is not automatically included with Flex. This is an important difference from Virgin Media’s fixed-term Entertainment, Cinema, Sport, Sport + Cinema and Max Volt packages, which include Netflix Standard with Ads.

Flex requires an active Virgin Media broadband service with an eligible Hub. It cannot be taken as a standalone television product or alongside another Virgin Media TV service. The package includes one Stream box and does not offer the same extra-box option as a fixed-term bundle.

Entertainment package

Entertainment is the entry point to Virgin Media’s fixed-term TV packages. It combines more than 200 channels with general entertainment, documentaries, factual programmes, children’s content and free-to-air television. Netflix Standard with Ads is included.

This package is best for households that want a broad live-TV selection but do not need Sky Sports or Sky Cinema in the monthly bundle. Premium services can still be added later, although a package that already includes them can be easier to manage if you expect to keep them for most of the contract.

Cinema package

The Cinema package adds Sky Cinema HD to the Entertainment channel selection. It includes the live Sky Cinema channels and access to films available through the relevant on-demand service, alongside Netflix Standard with Ads.

It is ideal for households that watch new and older films regularly but do not need a complete sports pack. Check the current deal summary for any limited promotional subscriptions because these can have a different end date from the main contract.

Sport package

The Sport package adds the complete Sky Sports HD pack to Virgin Media’s general entertainment channels. It includes the main Sky Sports services for Premier League football, Formula 1, cricket, golf, tennis and other events. Netflix Standard with Ads is also included.

TNT Sports, Premier Sports and Racing TV are separate services unless the deal summary specifically includes them. Do not assume that every sports channel is part of a package simply because its name contains Sport.

Sport + Cinema package

Sport + Cinema combines the complete Sky Sports HD pack with Sky Cinema HD, general entertainment channels and Netflix Standard with Ads. It is the most direct option for households that use both Sky services throughout the year but do not require an O2 mobile plan.

Compare its full-contract cost with Max Volt before ordering. Max Volt adds more services, but Sport + Cinema can be the more suitable package when you do not need an O2 SIM or the extra Volt benefits.

Max Volt package

Max Volt is Virgin Media’s most comprehensive fixed bundle. It combines general entertainment, Sky Sports HD, Sky Cinema HD, Kids TV, Netflix Standard with Ads and an eligible O2 SIM.

The broadband speed shown for Max Volt can vary by area and offer. Eligible customers receive a Volt speed boost to the next available Virgin Media broadband plan, up to Gig1. You also receive double mobile data on eligible O2 plans, inclusive roaming in 75 destinations and WiFi Max.

The O2 SIM remains separate from the Virgin Media broadband and TV agreement. It has its own contract, bill and cancellation conditions. Check both minimum terms and both monthly charges before treating Max Volt as one household package.

Volt benefits are not always activated immediately. Virgin Media and O2 can take up to 14 days to apply them after recognising eligible accounts registered at the same address.

Broadband included with Virgin Media TV

Virgin Media can combine its fixed TV packages with different broadband speeds. The exact options depend on your postcode, the local network and the offers available when you order. Use the speed shown in the live deal table instead of assuming that a package always comes with M500 or Gig1.

Any current Virgin Media broadband plan has enough bandwidth for one Ultra HD stream. A faster plan becomes useful when several people stream, play online games, join video calls and download large files at the same time.

Flex can be added to eligible Virgin Media broadband services rather than being tied to one named speed. Fixed packages combine the selected broadband and TV service under one minimum term.

The Stream box works on both Virgin Media’s cable network and its newer full-fibre network. It uses the broadband connection for live channels, catch-up television and apps, so television viewing can stop during a broadband fault.

Channels and streaming services

The fixed-term packages use Virgin Media’s main entertainment selection, sometimes described as Mega TV in the legal details. This contains more than 200 essential and free-to-air channels. Flex has a smaller selection of more than 150 channels.

The named packages include Netflix Standard with Ads. Netflix remains optional with Flex, while an upgrade to a different Netflix plan costs extra. If you already pay Netflix directly, use the same email address when activating it through Virgin Media. Netflix then pauses direct billing and links the membership to your Virgin Media entitlement. Activating with a different email address can leave two paid memberships running.

Sky Sports and Sky Cinema appear only in the relevant named packages or as paid additions. TNT Sports, Premier Sports, Racing TV, international packs and other specialist content have separate charges unless a deal explicitly lists them.

Disney+ can also be added through Virgin Media. Contract choices and plan options can differ, so check the cancellation notice and renewal conditions before confirming the subscription.

Virgin Media Stream box

Stream is the standard television box for a new Virgin Media order. It is a small Ultra HD device that connects to your television by HDMI and receives channels through your Virgin Media broadband connection.

The interface brings live channels, catch-up services and streaming apps into one programme guide. Voice search helps you find programmes, actors and genres, while profiles keep personal recommendations and watchlists separate.

Stream does not contain a hard drive and cannot make conventional recordings. Its Watchlist saves links to programmes rather than storing a private copy. A programme can disappear when a broadcaster removes it from catch-up or on-demand viewing, even if you previously added it to the Watchlist.

This difference matters if you record films, sport or series to watch months later. Stream is more suitable for viewers who use catch-up and streaming libraries, while existing TV 360 customers retain local recording functions on compatible equipment.

TV 360 should not be confused with an old TiVo interface. It has its own profiles, voice control, Startover features and recording functions. However, new customers should base their buying decision on Stream because that is the equipment supplied with current online packages.

Extra Stream boxes and multiroom viewing

Eligible fixed-term packages can add up to five extra Stream boxes, giving a maximum of six boxes on one account. Extra boxes use Wi-Fi and do not need conventional television cabling in every room.

Extra Stream boxes come with Virgin Media’s WiFi guarantee. If the service does not deliver at least 30Mbps download speed in every eligible room after the required checks and WiFi Pod process, Virgin Media offers a £100 bill credit under the guarantee conditions.

Flex customers receive one Stream box and cannot add the fixed-package multiroom service. If several people need to watch away from the main television, check whether TV Go is sufficient before choosing Flex.

Virgin TV Go

Virgin TV Go is included with every Virgin Media TV package. It lets you watch selected live channels and on-demand programmes on compatible phones, tablets and web browsers while you are in the UK.

You can register up to five devices and watch on two devices at the same time. The live selection reaches up to 100 channels, although the exact number depends on your TV package, device and programme rights.

Selected programmes can be downloaded for offline viewing. Some content opens in a broadcaster’s separate app and follows that service’s device, location and simultaneous-stream rules.

TV Go is useful for personal viewing but does not replace multiroom television in every household. Two concurrent streams can become restrictive when several people want different programmes at once.

Volt benefits and the O2 mobile contract

Volt combines eligible Virgin Media home services and O2 mobile plans. It is included with Max Volt and can also apply when an eligible Virgin Media broadband customer has a qualifying O2 Pay Monthly plan at the same address.

The main benefits include:

• a broadband speed boost to the next available plan, up to Gig1
• double mobile data on eligible O2 plans
• WiFi Max with up to three WiFi Pods when required
• inclusive roaming in 75 destinations on eligible O2 plans
• access to selected O2 Extras and customer benefits

The speed boost depends on network availability. A Gig1 customer does not move to Gig2 through Volt, and Gig2 is not the normal Volt upgrade destination.

Virgin Media and O2 remain separate companies for billing and contract purposes. Cancelling or changing one service can remove the customer’s Volt eligibility and associated benefits on the other account.

Home phone options

A home phone can be added to many fixed Virgin Media TV and broadband packages during checkout. The available call plan and monthly charge depend on the offer selected.

Virgin Media delivers current home phone services through the Hub rather than a traditional analogue wall socket. The phone service therefore needs power and working broadband equipment. Customers who depend on a landline for accessibility, health or security equipment should discuss backup arrangements before installation.

Home phone is not available with every new full-fibre connection in Virgin Media’s expansion areas. The postcode checker confirms whether the service is offered at your premises.

Contracts, price changes and installation

Entertainment, Cinema, Sport, Sport + Cinema and Max Volt normally come with a 24-month minimum term. Flex has a 30-day TV agreement, but the required broadband service usually has a separate longer contract.

Current new-customer offers do not apply an annual increase during 2026. The first scheduled increase appears in April 2027, but the pounds-and-pence amount depends on the offer and contract date. Show each dated monthly price in the live deal table rather than stating one increase for every package. Add-ons and O2 mobile plans follow their own price-change rules.

The price normally rises to Virgin Media’s standard monthly charge when the minimum term ends. Record the contract end date and compare renewal offers before that point because the out-of-contract increase can be substantial.

Virgin Media currently removes the standard setup charge from its main online bundles. Installation still depends on the network at your premises.

QuickStart self-installation is available at suitable cable-connected homes that already have the correct Virgin Media socket. If QuickStart is offered and you choose an engineer instead, the optional engineer visit costs £30. New full-fibre premises require an engineer installation and do not pay that optional visit charge.

Your first bill can be higher than the regular monthly amount because it can include service from the activation date plus the next month in advance. Premium subscriptions added after installation also appear on later bills.

Choosing the right Virgin Media bundle

Flex is best for viewers who use Netflix, Disney+ and other apps more than live television. Its 30-day TV agreement also suits households that want to add premium channels for short periods rather than keep them throughout a two-year deal.

Entertainment is the better starting package for a household that watches general live television and wants Netflix included. Cinema is ideal for regular film viewing, while Sport is better for viewers who want the complete Sky Sports pack without paying for Sky Cinema.

Sport + Cinema gives you both major Sky packs without an O2 SIM. Compare it with Max Volt if your household also needs a mobile plan, Kids TV and the broader Volt benefits.

Max Volt can offer good overall value when every included service will be used. It becomes expensive clutter when the O2 SIM, Kids TV or one of the premium Sky packs is unwanted. Compare the two contracts separately as well as the combined monthly outlay.

Choose the broadband speed after counting simultaneous users and activities. Television streaming alone does not require Gig1, but a faster plan is useful in a larger household where several people also game, work online and download large files.

Virgin Media compared with Sky and EE TV

Virgin Media Stream and Sky Stream have a similar core approach. Both use a compact internet television device, place streaming apps alongside live channels and rely on playlists rather than conventional hard-drive recording. Sky Stream does not require a satellite dish, while Sky Q remains available for viewers who prefer local recording.

Virgin Media is particularly attractive at premises that can receive its faster cable or full-fibre broadband and want Sky Sports or Sky Cinema on the same Virgin Media bill. Sky has a broader selection of its own entertainment channels and offers different television hardware choices.

EE TV also combines broadband, live channels and streaming services. Its equipment choice is wider: the EE TV Box Pro can record programmes, while the Box Edge and Apple TV 4K options favour streaming. EE uses the Openreach network for its home broadband, so availability and speeds differ from Virgin Media by postcode.

Compare channel selection, recording needs, full-contract cost and broadband availability rather than choosing on the introductory monthly price alone.

Virgin Media’s TV and broadband range gives viewers a clear choice between flexibility and a comprehensive fixed package. Flex is best for app-led viewing and short-term premium subscriptions. The named packages are better for households that want a larger channel selection and keep Sky Sports, Sky Cinema or both throughout the year.

Stream makes the service simpler to install and use on Virgin Media’s cable and full-fibre networks. Its main limitation is recording: the Watchlist cannot preserve a programme after it leaves a broadcaster’s library. Viewers who depend on a hard drive should compare TV 360 equipment already on their account, Sky Q or an EE recording box before switching.

Entertainment gives most general-TV households the most balanced starting point. Sport and Cinema are easier to justify when their premium content is watched regularly. Max Volt offers the widest combination of services, but it delivers its best value only when the household needs the O2 SIM and most of the included television packs.
