Compare Virgin Media Broadband Deals

Most households should compare M250 and M500 first. M250 offers enough bandwidth for typical home use, while M500 is better for larger households with several people streaming, gaming and working online at the same time.

Gig1 is more suitable for heavy users who regularly download large games or files. Gig2 requires Virgin Media’s XGS-PON full-fibre connection and is available in fewer areas.

Today’s top Virgin Media deals

The current offers have no scheduled price increase during 2026. The monthly charge for the main Virgin Media service increases by £4 on 1 April 2027 and by another £4 on 1 April 2028. The deal table should show the starting monthly price, both scheduled increases, setup cost and total payable over the minimum term.

Most offers in the table are online deals for new customers. Enter your postcode before comparing them because available plans, connection types and discounts differ between premises.

Choosing the right Virgin Media deal

Virgin Media offers six main residential speeds. Choosing the least expensive plan that gives your household enough bandwidth is usually better than paying for speed that your devices will rarely use.

M125 offers average download and upload speeds of 132Mbps and 20Mbps. It is suitable for smaller households using a limited number of devices for browsing, video calls and streaming.

M250 increases the average speeds to 264Mbps for downloads and 25Mbps for uploads. It is the better starting point for a typical household with several connected devices.

M350 offers average download and upload speeds of 362Mbps and 36Mbps. It gives multi-device homes additional bandwidth for simultaneous 4K streaming, gaming and home working.

M500 raises the average speeds to 516Mbps and 52Mbps. It is ideal for larger households, frequent game downloads and several heavy internet activities taking place together.

Gig1 offers average download and upload speeds of 1,130Mbps and 104Mbps. Consider it when several heavy users share the connection or reducing large download times matters more than keeping the monthly cost low.

Gig2 offers average download and standard upload speeds of 2,000Mbps and 200Mbps. Eligible full-fibre customers can add an upload boost that increases the upload speed to the same as the download speed. Gig2 is primarily useful for very large households, content creators and customers with multi-gigabit wired equipment.

Virgin Media broadband-only deals

Broadband-only deals are suitable for customers who want a fast internet connection without paying for a landline or a full TV package. They are normally the least expensive way to join Virgin Media.

This type of deal is ideal if you already watch Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, ITVX or YouTube through a smart television, games console or streaming device. You can still add Flex later if you decide that you want Virgin’s Stream box and live channels.

Choose broadband-only when:

• you do not use a home phone
• you already pay for your preferred streaming services
• you want to keep the package simple
• you do not need premium television channels

Check whether a faster package is available for a similar total contract cost. Temporary discounts can sometimes leave a significant speed difference between two plans but only a small difference in price.

Virgin Media broadband and phone deals

Virgin Media broadband and phone deals combine internet access, line rental and a home telephone service on one Virgin Media bill. They remain useful for customers who regularly call landlines, want a fixed home number or need a telephone service for relatives who do not rely on mobiles.

Weekend Chatter is the usual starting call plan and includes calls to UK landlines at weekends. Some current packages include Anytime Chatter instead. Anytime Chatter adds inclusive calls to UK landlines and mobiles throughout the week, while International Anytime Chatter adds eligible calls to selected overseas destinations.

The included call plan differs between offers, so check the order summary before completing the purchase. Inclusive calls can also have time limits, after which the customer needs to end the call and redial to avoid extra charges.

Home phone is not available in some newer network expansion areas. The postcode result will show whether a landline can be added at your premises. Customers moving an existing number should enter it during checkout so Virgin Media can request a transfer from the previous provider.

Virgin Media broadband and TV deals

Virgin Media offers Flex alongside Entertainment, Cinema, Sport, Sport + Cinema and Max Volt packages. These deals combine broadband with a Stream box, live channels, catch-up services and optional streaming subscriptions.

Flex uses a 30-day rolling TV agreement and includes more than 150 essential channels. It lets customers add or remove compatible streaming services and premium channel packs without taking one of Virgin Media’s complete fixed-term TV packages.

Entertainment, Cinema, Sport and Sport + Cinema come with a 24-month agreement. The included content progresses from general entertainment to Sky Cinema, Sky Sports or both. Current fixed-term TV packages also include Netflix Standard with Ads.

Max Volt combines premium television, Virgin Media broadband and an O2 SIM. The Virgin Media and O2 parts remain separate contracts with separate bills.

Virgin Media Volt deals

Volt benefits become available when a household has Virgin Media broadband and at least one eligible O2 Pay Monthly plan registered at the same premises. The broadband and mobile accounts do not need to be in the same person’s name, but the registered premises must be the same.

Eligible customers receive:

• a broadband speed increase to the next available Virgin Media plan, up to Gig1
• double mobile data on eligible O2 Pay Monthly plans
• WiFi Max without an additional monthly charge
• the 30Mbps WiFi guarantee and access to WiFi Pods when required
• O2 roaming and Extras benefits on qualifying mobile plans

Virgin Media usually adds the benefits automatically within 14 days. An M125 customer can therefore receive M250 speeds, while the maximum broadband increase stops at Gig1.

Volt is worth comparing if the household already uses O2 or needs a new mobile plan. It offers less value when the SIM would remain unused or another mobile network gives better reception at the places the customer visits regularly.

Virgin Media broadband and O2 mobile remain separate services. Each has its own contract, bill, cancellation rules and annual price changes.

Virgin Media student broadband deals

Virgin Media offers 12-month student contracts and 30-day rolling broadband. A student needs a valid university ac.uk email address to order a dedicated student deal.

A 12-month contract is suitable for accommodation used throughout an academic year. The rolling option gives students the freedom to leave with 30 days’ notice, which is useful for a short tenancy, placement or temporary accommodation.

Students can choose from everyday broadband speeds through to gigabit packages, subject to availability. Before ordering, agree who will hold the account, collect each person’s contribution and remain responsible for the final bill. The account holder is also responsible for returning Virgin Media equipment after cancellation.

Flex can be added on a 30-day rolling TV agreement for students who want a Stream box, essential channels and optional monthly entertainment subscriptions.

Virgin Media routers and WiFi Max

Virgin Media supplies a Hub with every broadband deal. The Hub model depends on the connection technology, selected package, premises and available equipment, so customers should not choose a deal solely because they expect a particular router.

Hub 3 and Hub 4 use Wi-Fi 5 and remain in service on cable connections. Hub 5 adds Wi-Fi 6 and a 2.5Gbps Ethernet port for compatible wired devices. Hub 5x is the router used with Virgin Media’s XGS-PON full-fibre connection and includes a 10Gbps Ethernet port.

WiFi Max is a separate whole-home Wi-Fi service rather than a faster broadband plan. It is a paid addition to eligible M50 to M500 packages and is included with Gig1, Gig2 and Volt.

The service guarantees a download speed of at least 30Mbps in every room. Virgin Media can issue up to three WiFi Pods, one at a time, after testing the connection. If the Pods fail to achieve the guaranteed speed, the customer can claim a one-off £100 bill credit. WiFi Max can only be ordered after the broadband service has been activated, and Essential Broadband customers cannot add it.

Virgin Media Essential Broadband

Essential Broadband is Virgin Media’s social-tariff range for customers receiving specified benefits. Each package comes with free broadband setup, a rolling 30-day contract and no exit fee.

Eligibility includes Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance and income-related Employment and Support Allowance. New and existing Virgin Media customers can apply through live chat and permit a Department for Work and Pensions eligibility check.

Virgin Media repeats the check every 12 months. A customer who remains eligible keeps the social tariff. A customer who no longer qualifies moves to a standard price unless they cancel or choose another available package.

The 15Mbps plan is suitable for basic browsing, email, online forms, video calls and light streaming on fewer devices. Essential Broadband Plus gives a household more bandwidth for simultaneous use and higher-quality streaming.

Contracts, price rises and setup

Contract length and price changes

Most standard Virgin Media deals come with a 24-month contract. Student and rolling packages use different minimum periods, while the Flex TV agreement remains separate from the minimum term for the underlying broadband service.

Current standard offers have no scheduled increase during 2026. The monthly subscription for the main Virgin Media service increases by £4 on 1 April 2027 and by another £4 on 1 April 2028. Optional add-ons and O2 airtime follow their own price-change rules.

Compare the total payable across the complete minimum term rather than the opening monthly price alone. The standard price after the discount ends can be significantly higher, so note the contract end date and compare renewal offers before month 25.

Setup and installation

Current residential broadband, phone and TV offers have no mandatory setup charge. QuickStart is available when a previously connected property has a serviceable Virgin Media socket. The equipment arrives by post or collection, and the customer connects it without an engineer visit.

A customer who qualifies for free QuickStart but chooses an engineer installation is charged £30. QuickStart is unavailable with Virgin Media’s full-fibre service, so those premises require an engineer installation without the optional-engineer charge.

New cabling, an external connection or a missing wall socket can also require an engineer. The order confirmation should identify the installation method and any charge before the customer commits.

First bill

The first Virgin Media bill can be higher than the usual monthly amount. It includes the service from the activation date to the first billing date and the following month in advance. It can also include chargeable installation, delivery or optional add-ons.

Switching credit towards exit fees

Virgin Media currently offers eligible new customers account credit towards early termination charges from their previous broadband provider. The current promotion pays up to £300 for qualifying orders placed by 20 September 2026.

Customers must activate the new service, pay the previous provider’s early termination charge and submit proof of the final bill within 60 days of activation. Virgin Media applies the approved amount as account credit rather than paying cash.

Student contracts, 30-day rolling packages and Essential Broadband are excluded. The closing date and eligibility rules can change, so confirm that the switching-credit message appears with the selected deal before ordering.

One Touch Switch can coordinate the transfer of residential broadband and a home phone service. It does not cancel a separate television or mobile contract, so customers must deal with those services themselves.

Virgin Media deal value

A Virgin Media deal offers good value when it combines a competitive total contract cost with a speed the household will use. M250 and M500 deserve particular attention because promotional pricing can place them close to slower packages.

Virgin Media is also worth considering when other fixed broadband available at the premises is limited to slower part-fibre services. Its cable network offers gigabit downloads across much of its coverage, while newer XGS-PON areas can access Gig2 and an optional upload-speed boost.

Look elsewhere if a lower-cost full-fibre provider offers enough speed, faster uploads and a shorter commitment at the premises. TV and Volt packages also lose value when the household will not use the premium channels, O2 SIM or WiFi Max benefits.
