How good is Zzoomm broadband

Zzoomm broadband plans come with symmetrical speeds, so uploads are as fast as downloads across every package. This makes activities like working from home, video calls and online gaming more reliable.

The entry-level 200Mb plan is fast enough for streaming in HD, browsing, and video calls on several devices at once. The 500Mb package offers more capacity for 4K streaming, large downloads and gaming. For households that want the fastest speeds, Zzoomm also offer 1Gb and 2.3Gb tiers, suited to gamers, creatives, or busy homes with many connected devices.

As with all providers, real world performance will depend on the device, how it’s connected, and the distance from the WiFi hub. For the highest speeds, a wired Ethernet connection is recommended, especially on the fastest packages, as some older WiFi devices may not support multi-gigabit speeds.

Zzoomm Wi-Fi 7 Hub

Zzoomm includes a WiFi 7 Hub as standard with every broadband plan. The new router uses the latest 802.11be wireless standard, designed to deliver faster speeds, lower latency, and more stable connections when multiple devices are online at the same time.

The Zzoomm Hub is based on the Heights Telecom HT-6766 range, with two versions supplied depending on the package taken. The BE6500 offers 2.5Gb Ethernet ports, while the BE18100 has 10Gb Ethernet ports for customers with multi-gigabit needs. Both are built to handle Zzoomm’s fastest speeds and provide strong coverage around the home.

Support for advanced features such as Multi-Link Operation, wider 6GHz channels, and low latency connections make the Hub well suited for gaming, video calls, and 4K streaming.

Setup

Zzoomm provides free standard installation with all broadband packages. When a customer places an order, an engineer visit is arranged to run a full fibre cable into the property and install an Optical Network Terminal (ONT), which connects to the WiFi 7 Hub.

The process usually takes around two to three hours, depending on the layout of the home and where the ONT and router are located. Once the work is complete, the Hub is connected and powered on, with the engineer checking the service is live.

The WiFi 7 Hub is pre-configured to connect automatically, so customers can get online straight away without any complex setup.

Zzoomm vs other providers

Several providers now offer full fibre packages with ultrafast speeds, advanced WiFi hubs and added services.

Virgin Media’s fastest plan, Gig2, delivers average download speeds up to 2Gb, but upload speeds are capped at 200Mb unless customers are in an area upgraded to Virgin’s new XGS-PON network. An optional add-on can boost uploads to symmetrical levels, but this is only available in limited areas. Virgin’s Hub 5 and Hub 5x both support WiFi 6 and include multi-gig Ethernet ports, but availability depends on the plan taken.

EE offers broadband up to 1.6Gb on the Openreach full fibre network. Their Smart Hub Pro supports WiFi 7, and customers can add Smart WiFi mesh for wider coverage. EE also include mobile backup to keep households connected if the fixed line service fails.

Vodafone’s fastest tier is the Pro II 2.2Gb package on the CityFibre network. It comes with the Ultra Hub 7, a WiFi 7 router with 10Gb Ethernet, plus Super WiFi boosters and 4G backup. Coverage is still limited however, and uploads are not symmetrical on every plan.

Community Fibre offers packages up to 5Gb with symmetrical upload and download speeds. They also include premium WiFi options, and prices remain competitive. However, availability is restricted to London.

YouFibre provides the fastest residential broadband in the UK, with a 7Gb plan available in select areas. This comes with a WiFi 7 router and symmetrical speeds, but coverage remains limited to locations served by their Netomnia network.

Zzoomm’s packages compare well to these rivals. Symmetrical speeds are included as standard on every plan, all customers get a WiFi 7 hub, and there are no mid-contract price rises.

Customer Service

Zzoomm broadband includes an online help centre with guides on installation, WiFi setup, troubleshooting and router configuration. Customers can also access the settings of their WiFi 7 hub to manage passwords, networks or restarts.

Support is available by phone and email, with most issues resolved quickly. While Zzoomm do not yet feature in Ofcom’s service reports, customer reviews are generally positive about installation, speeds and hardware, though some note occasional outages or delays.

Zzoomm also provides advice on router placement and WiFi optimisation, but unlike larger providers they do not include a formal whole-home WiFi guarantee. The inclusion of a WiFi 7 hub, however, ensures strong coverage for most households.
