Sky Sports Adds 215+ Premier League Games & New Features

Sky has confirmed a major expansion of its Premier League broadcasting rights for the 2024/25 season, increasing its exclusive live matches from 128 to a minimum of 215. Alongside the extra fixtures, the broadcaster is introducing a set of new interactive features across Sky Glass, Sky Stream, Sky Q, NOW TV and the Sky Sports app, designed to give football fans more control, more choice, and more ways to watch.

The new agreement also includes every displaced 2pm Sunday kick-off for the first time on a UK platform, a change that means fans will be able to follow more live action in one place than ever before. These updates are backed by a season-long innovation rollout, enhancing how live sport is accessed and enjoyed on Sky’s platforms.

More Premier League Games in 2024/25

For the 2024/25 campaign, Sky’s match portfolio increases by almost 70% compared to the previous season. The headline change is the jump from 128 live games to at least 215, creating a denser schedule of live football across weekends.

One of the most significant additions is the inclusion of every 2pm Sunday fixture that has been displaced from its original slot – something no other UK broadcaster has previously offered. This not only gives subscribers more live content but also ensures that games affected by fixture clashes remain available to watch in full.

Sky’s deal keeps it as a primary home for the Premier League until the end of the decade. This long-term commitment guarantees consistent coverage for existing subscribers and provides the broadcaster with a platform to integrate further innovations into its sports offering.

New Ways to Watch on Matchday

The increased match count is being matched with new viewing formats. The centrepiece is Multiview, a programme that cycles through all live matches being played at the same time. It uses dynamic switching to show key moments, goals, and turning points from each game, with dedicated commentary and real-time analysis.

Multiview will sit alongside the option to watch any of the matches in full, giving fans a choice between following a single game or keeping track of multiple fixtures at once.

On particularly busy Sundays, a new programme called Extra Time will provide extended post-match coverage, capturing reactions and analysis after four or more games have been played in the same slot.

Sky is also bringing in fan interaction through a new partnership with Fanalysis. This integration brings supporter-driven player ratings, manager scores, and fan perspectives into the match build-up and post-match content. These elements will also appear on Sky Sports News and across Sky’s social channels.

For mobile users, instant vertical highlights in the Sky Sports app will give a mobile-first, scrollable view of goals and big moments – designed for quick catch-ups without needing to replay an entire match.

Sky Glass, Stream, and Q Get More Features

Sky’s TV platforms are also being upgraded to support these changes. Viewers will soon be able to set on-screen reminders for live sport directly from the TV guide, ensuring they never miss a kick-off.

Team pages will allow fans to follow their club’s schedule in one place, with upcoming fixtures, related shows, and highlights all grouped together. By adding a team to the Playlist, users can ensure that new match content is automatically saved for easy access.

Sky Glass, Sky Stream, and soon Sky Q will offer the option to restart matches from the beginning, even if the game is already in progress, as well as replay the full match after the final whistle.

Later in the year, live sports streams from Sky Sports+ (currently available in the Sky Sports app) will be integrated directly into the Sky Glass and Sky Stream interface. This will make them easier to find and add to Playlists. Sky Q users will continue to access these streams through the Sky Sports app, which will also receive a design refresh.

Same Matches, Any Screen

This increase in match availability and the rollout of new features represent a broader shift in Sky’s approach to sports broadcasting. Rather than focusing solely on the number of games, the company is building a connected viewing experience across live TV, streaming, and mobile.

For subscribers, this means more flexibility in how and where they watch. Whether on a 4K TV through Sky Glass, a laptop via NOW TV, or on a smartphone using the Sky Sports app, the same range of matches and features will be accessible.

Sky Sports is available as an add-on to Sky TV or as part of bundled packages. The channels can be subscribed to in full or in themed packs that focus on specific competitions.

  • Sky Sports Football – Focuses on domestic and European football, including the Premier League, EFL, and Scottish Premiership.

Each package is available on a minimum-term contract or, in the case of Sky Stream and NOW TV, a rolling monthly basis.

Sky Stream can be subscribed to with either a rolling monthly deal or an 18-month term, offering flexibility for those who may only want Sky Sports for a particular season. Both platforms integrate live matches, on-demand replays, and the Sky Sports app experience into a single interface.

Because they operate over broadband, the quality of the feed is tied to the stability and speed of the customer’s connection. Sky recommends a fibre broadband service – ideally full fibre (FTTP) – for UHD streaming without buffering or dropouts.

Sky Broadband & TV Sports Bundles

Sky frequently offers combined TV and broadband bundles that include Sky Sports. These bundles can pair Sky’s TV service with broadband delivered over either FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) or FTTP (Full Fibre) connections.
