New customers can now take Plusnet broadband packages on 12 month contract as the ISP has reduced the contract lenght from 18 to 12 months. This will apply to all Plusnet broadband only deals as well as Plusnet broadband & home phone bundles.

The UK broadband provider has also amended its cancellation policy. Customers who leave the service before contract expiry (12 months), need not pay for outstanding subscription that they owe but would be charged of just the set up cost or for any hardware they have taken. Earlier, Plusnet customers had to pay for the outstanding subscription if they left the service within the contract period.

However, the customers who have stayed for more than 12 months and want to leave the provider, will not need to pay for these costs. The new cancellation policy would apply to new as well as existing Plusnet customers. If the customers paid for setup and hardware costs in advance, they could leave the service at anytime without notice.

Anthony Vollmer, CEO of Plusnet, said:
“Moving to shorter commitment periods allows customers so much more flexibility. We want our customers to stay with us because they love our phone and broadband products, not because we have tied them into lengthy contracts”

Plusnet home broadband deals come with evening and weekend local, national calls to customers as well as 300 minutes of international calls remain contract free.
