Best affordable Full Fibre deal: Full Fibre 150

Full Fibre 150 is the best starting point for most households that can receive BT Full Fibre. It offers an average 150Mbps download speed and 30Mbps upload speed, giving families enough bandwidth for 4K streaming, video calls, gaming and everyday downloads on several devices.

It can offer better value than Fibre 1 or Fibre 2 when the difference in total contract cost is small. Read our BT Full Fibre 150 review for a closer examination of its performance and minimum guaranteed speed.

Best-value deal: Full Fibre 300

Full Fibre 300 is the best overall BT deal when its contract cost remains close to Full Fibre 150. It doubles the average download speed to 300Mbps and offers an average 49Mbps upload speed.

The additional bandwidth is useful for larger households, simultaneous 4K streams and frequent game or software downloads. Our BT Full Fibre 300 review explains the speed benefits and the households likely to use them.

Best deal for larger households: Full Fibre 500

Full Fibre 500 offers an average 500Mbps download speed and 73Mbps upload speed. It is ideal for homes with several heavy users, multiple 4K streams, large downloads and cloud services operating together.

Choose it over Full Fibre 300 when the current price difference is small or the household regularly downloads large games and high-resolution media. See our BT Full Fibre 500 review for detailed speed and value comparisons.

Fastest deal: Full Fibre 900

Full Fibre 900 is BT’s fastest home broadband plan. It offers an average 900Mbps download speed and 110Mbps upload speed, significantly reducing the time required for very large downloads.

This plan is ideal for larger households with several heavy users or customers who regularly download large games, video projects and device backups. Most smaller households will gain better value from Full Fibre 150 or 300. Our BT Full Fibre 900 review examines its speed, router requirements and alternatives.

BT broadband-only, Digital Voice and EE TV deals

Broadband-only deals

BT broadband-only deals do not include an active home phone service. There is no dial tone, and the customer cannot make or receive calls, including calls to emergency services.

Part Fibre uses a copper cable for the final connection, but that does not mean calling is included. Customers moving an existing number should add Digital Voice during the order rather than choosing broadband only.

Personal alarms, telecare equipment and security systems connected to an old telephone socket will stop operating after the phone service ends. Check an alternative connection with the equipment supplier before switching.

Broadband and Digital Voice deals

Digital Voice carries home phone calls through the BT Hub and broadband connection. Customers can add a compatible calling plan during the order.

The service needs broadband and mains power. Anyone who relies on a landline during power cuts or uses telecare equipment should confirm the available backup arrangements before ordering.

Broadband and EE TV deals

BT broadband can be combined with EE TV. The available packages include different combinations of NOW Entertainment, Netflix, HBO Max, NOW Cinema, NOW Sports and TNT Sports.

EE TV normally comes with a 24-month agreement. Its monthly charge has a separate £2 increase every 31 March, so broadband and TV together rise by £6. Customers can change the core TV package monthly while the agreement continues.

Read our BT broadband and TV packages guide for current package contents, TV box options and deal comparisons.

Home Essentials and student deals

Home Essentials offers lower-cost broadband to customers receiving qualifying benefits. It comes with a 12-month price guarantee, does not receive the standard £4 broadband increase and has no early termination charge. Eligibility is checked every 12 months.

Customers receiving Universal Credit, Pension Credit Guarantee Credit, Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance or income-related Employment and Support Allowance should compare BT Home Essentials before choosing a standard deal.

BT also offers selected 12-month student broadband deals. A qualifying university email address is required, and availability depends on the premises. These offers can cost more each month than a 24-month plan but reduce the risk of paying an early termination charge after an academic year.

Monthly costs and scheduled price increases

BT increases the monthly broadband charge by £4 on 31 March each year. A new 24-month contract can therefore receive two scheduled increases before the minimum term ends.

EE TV increases by a separate £2 each 31 March. A broadband and TV package consequently rises by £6 in total. Selected add-ons and out-of-bundle charges increase by 5%.

Compare each deal using:

  • all monthly payments during the minimum term;
  • every scheduled annual increase;
  • the setup or activation charge;
  • any temporary monthly discount;
  • the Reward Card, provided it is claimed and activated; and
  • optional Digital Voice, calling plan and EE TV charges.

The Reward Card reduces the effective contract cost, but it does not reduce the monthly Direct Debit. Fixed-price broadband and Home Essentials are excluded from the standard broadband increase.

The order summary confirms the payment schedule and the total amount due during the minimum term. Save this document so the agreed charges can be checked later.

BT Reward Card claims

Selected new-customer offers include a digital BT Reward Card. Eligibility and the card value appear in the order confirmation; the card is not sent without a successful claim.

Claim it as follows:

  1. Wait until the BT broadband service is active.
  2. Sign in to MyBT and open the Reward Card claim page.
  3. Submit the claim within 90 days of placing the broadband order.
  4. Allow up to 30 working days for the digital card email.
  5. Activate the card within three months of issue.
  6. Spend the balance within 12 months of issue.

The card can be used online or by telephone where Mastercard is accepted. It cannot be used for cash withdrawals, bank transfers, subscriptions, automated payments or most self-service terminals.

Keep the order confirmation until the card arrives. It records the qualifying offer and provides evidence if the reward is missing or has the wrong value.

Contracts, setup charges and switching credit

Most featured BT deals come with a 24-month minimum term. Selected 12-month broadband and student deals are also available, but their monthly charges and incentives can differ.

Online and telephone orders have a 14-day cooling-off period. If the service begins during that period, the customer must pay for broadband already used and any installation work that has started. Leaving later during the minimum term normally results in an early termination charge.

The setup charge shown with each deal can include activation and equipment delivery. A Full Fibre order can also require an Openreach engineer to install a fibre cable and ONT. The order confirmation states whether an appointment and additional work are required.

BT switching credit

Selected invitation-only offers give new customers bill credit towards eligible charges for leaving another provider early. The maximum is £200 when broadband is switched. It increases to £300 when both broadband and TV are moved to a BT broadband and EE TV package.

The credit is limited to the eligible charge shown on the previous provider’s final bill. It does not pay excess call charges, additional data use, mobile broadband charges or business broadband charges. Charges from BT, EE and Plusnet do not qualify, and there is no cash alternative.

To claim:

  1. Order and activate the qualifying BT service.
  2. Obtain a paid final bill showing the early termination charge, name and service address.
  3. Email the bill to bt-switchteam@bt.com within four months of BT activation, placing the BT order number in the subject line.
  4. BT adds the credit to the account within 28 days after validating the claim.

If two previous providers supplied broadband and TV, submit both final bills together. Sending only one can restrict the claim to the first bill received.

Existing-customer renewal deals

The new-customer deals shown above do not automatically apply to existing BT customers. Renewal and speed-upgrade offers are personalised and can appear in MyBT near the end of the current contract.

Before accepting a renewal, compare:

  • the complete cost across the new minimum term;
  • the new contract length and annual increases;
  • the expected price after the minimum term;
  • the included hub and any equipment charge;
  • Digital Voice, EE TV or Halo charges; and
  • any account credit or Reward Card listed in the offer.

Accepting a renewal or upgrade normally begins a new minimum term. Customers planning to move home or change provider soon should check the early termination terms before agreeing.

If no new agreement is accepted, the broadband price can rise by up to £5 a month above the final in-contract price. Halo 3 and Halo 3+ follow a separate end-of-contract price promise, although their scheduled annual increases continue.

BT Fibre and Full Fibre availability

BT uses the Openreach network. Part Fibre is available more widely, while Full Fibre requires an Openreach FTTP connection at the individual premises.

Availability can differ between neighbouring homes. A postcode and address check confirms:

  • the BT plans available at the premises;
  • the personal estimated download-speed range;
  • the minimum guaranteed speed;
  • the setup charge; and
  • whether an engineer appointment is required.

A home with a working Openreach ONT can sometimes be activated without new internal cabling. A new installation normally requires an engineer to bring fibre into the home and connect a powered ONT.

You’ll confirm your address on BT’s site.

BT deals FAQs

Why do BT deals and speeds change after entering a postcode?

BT can only offer the connection types available at the individual premises. One home might receive Full Fibre 900, while another nearby home can be limited to Part Fibre.

The address check also applies the personal speed estimate, installation requirement and any location-specific offer.

Are the displayed BT broadband deals available to existing customers?

The featured offers normally apply to qualifying new customers. Existing customers receive personalised renewal and upgrade options through MyBT or BT’s customer service team.

These can have different prices, contract lengths and rewards.

Is a BT Reward Card sent automatically?

No. After activation, the customer must claim it through MyBT within 90 days of placing the order.

BT sends the digital card within 30 working days of a successful claim. It must be activated within three months and used within 12 months of issue.

Can I receive a BT Reward Card and switching credit with the same order?

Only when the accepted offer and order confirmation list both incentives.

They have separate eligibility and claim procedures, so the presence of a Reward Card does not automatically qualify the customer for switching credit.

Will BT pay my previous provider’s early termination charge?

An eligible invitation-only BT Switch offer applies account credit towards the charge shown on the previous provider’s paid final bill.

Broadband claims are limited to £200, while a qualifying broadband and TV switch can receive up to £300. The final bill must be submitted within four months of BT activation.

Will a 24-month BT contract receive two annual price increases?

Yes, when two 31 March dates fall inside the minimum term. Broadband rises by £4 on each date.

EE TV rises by another £2, giving a £6 annual increase for a broadband and TV package. The order summary shows the payment schedule that applies to the agreement.

Can I take BT broadband without a landline?

Yes. BT offers broadband-only deals, including in some Part Fibre areas.

Choosing broadband only means there is no active home phone service, no dial tone and no ability to call emergency services from the landline. An existing home phone number will be lost if it is not transferred to Digital Voice.

Does BT offer 12-month broadband contracts?

Yes. BT offers selected 12-month broadband and student plans, subject to availability.

The featured online deals normally come with 24-month contracts, which can have different monthly charges, Reward Cards and setup costs.

Does BT charge for Full Fibre installation?

BT can charge a setup fee, and the exact amount is displayed with the deal before checkout.

If Openreach identifies non-standard work, BT will confirm the work and any additional cost before proceeding. The order confirmation states whether an engineer visit, new fibre cable or ONT is required.

Can I cancel a BT broadband deal after ordering?

Online and telephone orders include a 14-day cooling-off period. Charges can apply for service already used or installation work that has begun.

Cancelling after the cooling-off period but before the minimum term ends normally results in an early termination charge.
