BT Total Broadband
Basic details
British Telecom or BT uses its largest telephone network in UK to offer its BT Total broadband products to homes and businesses. Extensive UK coverage and decades of market presence make BT stand tall among all UK ISPs. Currently, BT broadband can reach more than 90% UK households and there are estimated to be 4.5m BT broadband customers in UK.
With Virgin Media, the cable broadband ISP and the main competitor to BT, bringing superfast speeds (20 Mbps) on its fibre optic cable network, BT also enabled a major upgrade on its ADSL broadband network that can offer download speeds up to 20Mbps to its customers in selected areas. BT says, around 40 per cent of UK homes & businesses can access its 20Mb broadband. However, in other areas, BT continues to offer its up to 8Mb broadband.
BT Total broadband for home users also comes with a digital TV service ‘BT Vision’ which can be taken on pay-per-view or on monthly subscription rates.
BT Total broadband packages
BT home broadband (BT Total) offers three packages – Option 1, Option 2 and Option 3.
Except Option 3, other BT broadband packages come with a monthly cap. All the packages can be bundled with BT home phone packages, BT Vision digital TV subscribptions and BT mobile broadband plans.

BT offers its Home Hub wireless router for FREE, when you sign a contract (minimum 12 months).
BT uses its fair usage policy to tackle heavy usage on its network. The ISP could throttle down the speeds, if you are found a heavy user during peak hours.
BT charges additionally 58p per GB, when you exceed your monthly limit. However, if you exceed the limit for more than two months in a row, you would need to consider upgrading your package.
Free telephone support is available on 0800 number.
