Vodafone UK reveals soft launch of Pay TV service with broadband

Vodafone TVMobile operator and home broadband provider Vodafone UK is all set to launch its own pay TV service in October 2016.

Powered by Kaltura, the TV company in Israel, the new service which will be initially available to Vodafone customers, will offer streaming and on demand videos, according to the report.

Vodafone planned to offer TV along with home broadband, phone and mobile services a year ago. However, the launch has been delayed due to various technical and other issues which the mobile operator is yet to resolve.

If Vodafone could launch the service next month as scheduled, it is also likely that the new TV service will include live TV content from Now TV as Vodafone has been licensed to offer Sky’s new streaming service to its mobile and TV customers.

Although the launch of TV service will help Vodafone become a quad-play service provider, it will need to face fierce competition in the market which is dominated by Sky, Virgin Media and BT.

Vodafone home broadband which was launched in 2015 offers ADSL and fibre packages with inclusive line rental charges for clarity of pricing.
